What to Expect
Welcome to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (GSLC)
Thank you for visiting our website today. We hope you are able to visit in person as well. If you do, here are some answers to questions you may have:
When are worship services?
Our Sunday Contemporary Worship Service (featuring a live band) is at 8:30 AM in the Sanctuary, and lasts about 60 minutes. Our Sunday Traditional Liturgical Service (featuring organ and choir) is at 10:45 AM in the Sanctuary, and lasts about 75 minutes. In months where there are 5 Sundays, we hold a Blended Worship Service at 9:30 AM in the Sanctuary and lasts about 75 minutes.
What can I expect at GSLC?
Once you walk through the sanctuary doors, you will be welcomed by a member of our congregation who will also give you worship service and announcement bulletins. Contemporary Service dress is mostly casual, but you will see everything from jeans to business casual attire. Our Liturgical Service tends to be a bit more formal, but there is no requirement. Once the service is over, feel free to stick around and talk with our members over coffee and snacks.
Do you give Communion?
Yes! Communion is an important demonstration of our love and dedication to Christ. We offer communion to all who have been baptized in the name of Christ … no questions asked… no other rule. We share communion by intinction during our Contemporary Service. The Pastor will hand you the wafer and you dip it in the chalice of wine or juice as you prefer. During the Liturgical Service, ushers direct those who will receive communion to the altar, where you can stand or kneel. The Pastor will then place the wafer in your mouth or hand as you prefer and the assistant will hand you a tiny cup of wine or juice. Once all at the altar have been served you will be dismissed back to your seats.
Can my children attend worship services?
Children of all ages are welcome in the sanctuary for both worship services. In addition, we have a cry room available within the sanctuary as well as a staffed nursery for children 1-5 years of age.
What about Sunday School?
Christian Education for all ages is held each Sunday between worship services at 9:40 AM. For children PreK-6th Grade there are Sunday School Bible classes which begin with some upbeat Bible songs. For youth, 6th-12th Grade there is a Youth Bible Study. For adults, there are Bible Studies and scriptually based topical studies in which to participate.
What if I have more questions?
We want all to feel welcome and valued on our campus. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. You will be directed to one who has the answer you seek if the answer isn’t at hand. We are here to help!
May God Bless You!
